Two Great New Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Products

I enjoy searching for new products as I grocery shop. Yesterday I found 2 great products: Oh YES! Pizza by Doc's Nutrilicious  and So Delicious: Coco Whip.

Doctors Chip Milam and Emily Sikking are married and raising a young daughter. Like many parents, they found themselves asking how they could get their daughter to eat more fruits and vegetables. They wanted these ingredients to be the healthiest version possible. After spending time creating meals in their home that incorporated healthy ingredients, they realized the possibilities of taking the products to the food market. Chip reached out to Walter Cale to help with the business end and Chef Andrew Sikking to create the food. Together they have created, Oh YES! Pizza by Doc's Nutrilicious.

Oh YES! Pizza by Doc's Nutrilicious currently has 4 pizza products on the market: 2 are gluten-free. one of which is also dairy-free. My husband, Richard and I thought the crust was the best GF crust we have had and the texture was also very good.  We like a pizza with "stuff" on it, so Richard and I added a few ingredients to the cheese pizza for fun.I will by buying this again.

Great Allergy Info. Website

I have been researching different sections of food allergies and foods sensitivity for years.  The Worlds Healthiest Foods is the first site I have found that has a clear and thorough explanation of food allergies and food sensitivities. This site also ends theories as to why people have food sensitivities. Please check it out.

According to The Worlds Healthiest Foods, "Food intolerance responses can occur for many different reasons. A food can contain a molecule that your body has difficulty breaking down or digesting causing an intolerance response as that molecule is allowed to continue down your intestinal tract. Lactose intolerance is an example of this type of toxic food response."

The Worlds Healthiest Foods also states " the health of your digestive system is compromised you may have a sensitivity to foods which otherwise would not affect you adversely such as in times of extreme stress."

The Holiday's and Living Gluten-Free!

It has been almost 5 years since my household has been gluten-free (GF) & dairy-free (DF). Celebrating the holiday's locally has become easy. Some of my friends and family are also GF and/or DF. Those that are not understand and respect the way we eat and are more than willing to accommodate us.

This year we going to NY for a wedding, so we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my NY family. Several of them are DF but none are GF.  They are caring people and will do what needs to be done for us. I am also helping with the cooking.
The key to having a successful holiday is to be as prepared as possible. Planning ahead is the key.
1. Discussing the menu with the host.
2. If possible, choose to cook and/or bake the obvious foods: stuffing, gravy, pies, etc.
3. Make some inquires about which local stores carry gluten-free items.
4. If possible, have someone who lives where you will be, purchase items for you ahead of time.
4. Purchase parchment paper & parchment paper bags ( line the dishes that may have once had gluten in  them). Aluminum tins can be used to cook things in.
5. Find a $1 store or inexpensive stores;  purchase cooking utensil, pots, etc that you can use    and leave behind.
6. Knives need to be cleaned and re-cleaned to be sure gluten is not stuck on them.
7. Before going away, research local GF bakeries and restaurants.

Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Candy

Three years ago I spent 6 months compiling a list of gluten-free & dairy-free candy. I called and emailed many manufactures, as well as searching their websites. Today, I am happy to say that there are several wonderful groups out there doing this for us.

Celiac Disease Foundation just posted a 2014 gluten-free candy list.
AvoidingMilkProtein.com has a detailed 2014 diary-free candy list
The GFCF Diet Intervention-Autism Diet has a gluten-free and dairy-free list
BAAAB Bay Area Allergy Advisory Board also has a 2014 Gluten-Free and Casein Free Candy List

I want to thank all these people who must have spent many hours researching and confirming this information.

Have a safe and wonderful Halloween & Holiday Season!

Thank You All!

I want to take this time to thank you all for supporting my books and my business. So many of you have helped me in one way or another.

I really enjoy being a gluten-free coach. Knowing that I can make a difference motivates me to write my books and learn all I can learn about living gluten-free.

It took me 2 1/2 years to complete Gluten-Free Living 101: A Step by Step Guide. I stayed focused and "driven" knowing that there was no other book out there like it. I created this book so anyone who wants to live gluten-free can read the book and start living gluten-free with a few days.

It was all your voices, faces and online comments that fueled the fire that got me here.

Thank you,
Marian
